May 7 marks the release of a new self-titled studio album from Edge of the West. The event will be celebrated with an official CD Release Party at Moe’s Alley in the band’s home town of Santa Cruz, CA, as well as a series of Spring CD release shows throughout the region. At the main event in Santa Cruz, 80’s country hit maker Lacy J. Dalton will be sharing the bill, along with some very special guests. Several members of Edge of the West have toured with Lacy J’s band and the night will celebrate the California outlaw country scene that spurned these unique renegade artists.
The Edge of the West CD Release Party will feature songs from the 12-track compilation, mostly from the creative mind of front man Jim Lewin who takes the lead on vocals and guitars. Recorded by Eric McConnell, the record is a reflection of Lewin’s unique style, influenced by his 70’s L.A. roots, his diverse musical career, vivid sense of humor, and inspired by the many musical universes he’s explored.
Also in the band will be Bill Laymon, Jimmy Norris, Jon Dryden and Charlie Wallace. Edge of the West has been playing shows for just over a year and has been rapidly attracting a following in the West Coast Americana and jam band scenes.

Lacy J. Dalton will play the first set, in a rare return to the town her career began in before taking Nashville and the US by storm as one of the top country artists of the 80’s. Lacy was signed by Columbia Records in 1980 and quickly rose to national prominence with such songs as “16th Avenue,” which placed #7 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart. She also had a number of other hits up through the 2000s, including Takin’ It Easy, Crazy Blue Eyes, Black Coffee, Slip Away, and Slow Moving Outlaw, a notable duet with Willie Nelson on his classic Half Nelson LP.
Moe’s Alley proudly presents this very special album release party on Saturday, May 7, which marks the official release date for Edge of the West’s debut studio album. Putting this show over the top will be an opening set by country music legend Lacy J. Dalton, followed by a barn burning performance by Edge of the West featuring a series of guests from bandleader Jim Lewin’s past and present.
Edge of the West’s new record goes on sale Saturday, May 7. Special offers and advance sales will be offered on the band’s website and social media beginning April 25. Go to www.edgeofthewest.band for more information and tour dates.
